UMN Crookston Agricultural Education CDE Event
Teach Ag Minnesota invites FFA members to take part in the Agricultural Education CDE Invitational at the University of Minnesota Crookston. This event is designed to help students explore agricultural education as a career path while practicing the skills needed to teach and lead in today’s classrooms.
Students in grades 9 through 12 will work in teams of two. The event includes lesson planning, teaching, and professional communication. It is a strong opportunity for students who enjoy helping others learn, leading activities, or considering a future in agricultural education.
Event Format
Part 1: Create and submit a lesson plan for a 50 minute class period.
Part 2: Teach a 12 to 15 minute portion of the lesson to a panel of judges.
Part 3: Respond to questions about the content and delivery of the lesson.
For 2025 to 2026, the required content area is Animal Systems. Students must teach within this topic area.
All FFA members may participate, even if competing in another CDE. If both events overlap at the State FFA Convention, students will need to choose one.
Registration
Advisors may register by emailing Mike Martin at mart6864@crk.umn.edu with participant names.
Registration is due January 9.
Encourage your students to try the Ag Ed CDE Invitational and experience what it is like to plan, teach, and inspire others through agricultural education.
